Aftercare Instructions.

Once the tattoo is finished, I will wrap the tattoo in an adhesive bandage called Dermalize. This will protect your tattoo for the next few days. Please try to keep this on for up to 5 days if possible. In the event the Dermalize peels away or is filled with fluid and you need to take the bandage off, please use the following instructions to look after your new tattoo.

Remove the bandage and gently clean the tattoo with warm water and a mild soap. Pat dry with a clean towel. Do not tear the bandage off without water as this will damage the tattoo.

  1. Apply a thin layer of Butterluxe (or fragrance free moisturiser) to the tattoo, enough to cover it but not too much to avoid saturation. Gently massage the product into the skin.

  2. Repeat this process morning and night for about 7-10 days.

  3. Avoid soaking the tattoo in water for the first 10 days (this includes pools, baths, hot tubs, etc.).

  4. Avoid direct sunlight and excessive sweating on the tattoo for the first 10 days.

  5. If you notice any redness, itching, or excessive discharge, contact your tattoo artist immediately.

  6. It is normal for the tattoo to peel and scab over the next week or two, but avoid picking at the scabs as it can cause damage to the tattoo.

  7. Keep the area clean and moisturised for the next several weeks to ensure proper healing.

  8. Remember less is more with tattoos, don’t over moisturise as this can cause a bacterial build up and lead to infections.

Note: Every person's skin and healing process is different, so if you have any concerns, always consult with your tattoo artist .

We have Butterluxe available to purchase at the studio should you need aftercare for £5.00; alternatively you can buy it directly from Butterluxe themselves.
